Florida State University (FSU) is set to welcome students on Aug. 16-27 for the face-to-face Fall semester through “Welcome FSU,” a series of events and programs held each commencement of the semester.

As FSU transitions to in-person instruction for the upcoming semester, the university has lined up fun-filled activities for students.

Key Takeaways:

  • FSU is set to welcome its students through “Welcome FSU,” two weeks filled with events and programs.
  • Welcome FSU provides opportunities for students to find their community from the university’s student organizations, councils, sororities and fraternities, among others.
  • FSU encourages students to get vaccinated. Students may also get their vaccines at the university’s free COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

To ensure safe and low-risk recruitment, move-in process, and Fall semester, FSU continues to implement the State University System of Florida health policies.

Welcome FSU is an opportunity for students to find a community from a list of over 700 student organizations, seven student councils, 54 fraternities and sororities, and more than 20 fitness classes that will boost their overall student experience.

According to Vice President for Student Affairs Amy Hecht, they are working closely to ensure that students feel connected, welcomed, and supported by the university. She added that one of the primary reasons why FSU is the main study destination for students is because of the experiences it has to offer.

Hecht also noted how they are anticipating bringing the community members together in person.

To fully welcome the students and enable the transition to in-person learning and campus life, FSU is conducting the Welcome Week, which is expected to be the formal kickstarter of a much more ‘normal’ study experience on the campus grounds.

Taking the necessary steps to bring students back to the campus, the university strongly encourages all students to get a COVID vaccine not only to keep themselves safe but also other members of the FSU community.

For students who are not yet fully vaccinated, FSU allows them to walk into one of the university’s free COVID-19 vaccination clinics or make an appointment at vaccine.fsu.edu.

FSU is also offering on-campus COVID-19 testing and vaccination in the school clinics. Aside from these initiatives, the university continues to implement face mask or face covering guidelines even if students are fully vaccinated to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
