United States – “A great day for America,” said President Joe Biden last week as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released new mask guidelines. Fully vaccinated individuals can resume pre-pandemic activities and do not need to wear protective masks or practice social distancing outdoors or indoors. According to the CDC, individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer or Moderna) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen).
“You have endured all this. When your country asked you to get vaccinated, you did. The American people stepped up. You did what I consider to be your patriotic duty. That’s how we have gotten to this day,” said Biden, who did not wear a mask in the White House Rose Garden.
For more than 360 institutions across the country, receiving COVID-19 vaccination is a crucial requirement to attend in-person classes or return to campus housing. At Rochester Institute of Technology, returning students need to be fully vaccinated before the Fall 2021 semester. This mandate keeps students safe from contracting the virus during their studies.
With an aggressive vaccine distribution process, the US has more than half of its total population vaccinated with at least one dose. International students who have limited access to these vaccines in the US can contact and coordinate with school officials to receive their vaccination right away.
