Key Takeaways:

  • The University of Windsor has launched the “Knock Out COVID” campaign for students.
  • The KO COVID campaign is a joint initiative of the University of Windsor, its Students’ Alliance, the WE-Spark Health Institute, and UWindsor researchers.
  • The University of Windsor provided a website where students can raise vaccination concerns or questions.

The University of Windsor has launched a vaccination campaign to urge students to get inoculated and to provide educational platforms to access vaccination in the community and overcome vaccine hesitancy.

With the theme “Knock Out COVID,” the campaign was launched on July 19 in close coordination with the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance. KO COVID aims to intensify the drive to provide facts and figures that will diminish the hesitancy among students and the under-25 population around Windsor-Essex County.

A website will be provided for the students to have their vaccination questions and concerns answered. The website will also encourage the students to share their vaccination experiences, stories, and photos with a chance to win a series of prizes valued at more than CAD 15,000 on the line.

Aside from the website provided, to materialize the KO COVID campaign, the University of Windsor will team up with WE-Spark Health Institute and UWindsor researchers to provide the university with expertise.

Meanwhile, the student mentors will be assigned to guide, inform, engage, and empower the students in taking care of their health and the other members of the community.

According to University of Windsor Students’ Alliance President Jasleen Dayal, the students are in a noteworthy position to share what they learn about vaccination with the community, their friends, and family.

While the finish line in terms of vaccination is nearing, Lisa Porter, a biomedical researcher at the University of Windsor and executive director of the WE-Spark Health Institute, said that there is still work that needs to be done, especially for what she calls the “final push” for people under 25.
