Munich’s employment sector is looking favorable. The Bavarian capital is considered one of the most dynamic regions in Europe and a leading international business hub. For the last several years, Munich has also managed to outpace major European cities in terms of economic growth and employment.
International students who plan on seeking residency in Munich and its surrounding regions post-graduation can look forward to strong employment opportunities. It is home to a thriving startup and SME scenes, as well as several multinational HQs, like BMW, Siemens, and Allianz.
Germany, particularly Munich, has long been one of the top destinations for international education. This is due in part to Germany’s advantageous policies for international students. They are allowed to work while studying and upon graduation, they can continue to reside in Germany for up to 18 months, regardless of employment status.
In addition, graduates of German institutions who wish to return to the country are eligible for the Job Seeker Visa. This six-month visa allows them to enter Germany for the sole purpose of looking for employment.
Like many major European cities, Munich is grappling with COVID-19 and its economic fallout. Nevertheless, it has done little to alter Munich’s overall trajectory of growth. Experts are predicting a full recovery.
For prospective international students, Munich is a popular choice for business studies and hard sciences. German language proficiency is required, although many programs are offered in a combination of German and English.
