According to the latest Navitas Agent Perception Research, the UK emerges as a prime study destination for international students in Europe, with 54% of nearly 900 agents in 73 countries covered in this report. Canada, surprisingly, is a surprise alternative, with 58% agreeing/strongly agreeing that the government has done a great job in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Both countries became attractive for studies overseas.

Australia also had a similar response to the crisis but did not go up in the ranks with New Zealand and Canada. One reason may be the record-breaking lockdown in Melbourne which discourages students from pursuing their studies there.

After Brexit, there is still no clear picture of how education will change all over Europe since study options are expensive for students from the European Union (EU). According to the report, Canada is a safe alternative for students wanting to go overseas because of how the country managed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from that, Canada ranked behind the UK on how “open and welcoming” and “safe and stable” the country is perceived by education agents in Europe.

Even if Canada is not the usual choice of students in Europe as a study destination, the current situation with COVID-19 makes it a better alternative next to the UK, the US and Australia. As for the UK, agents still count on it even after Brexit, with a rating of 60%. The Netherlands joined the race and was on top of countries of high interest among Europe-based agents.
