More agents in China prefer the UK as a study destination, according to the latest survey conducted by Navitas. The Navitas Agent Perception Research covered all views and insights of nearly 900 agents in 73 different countries worldwide. This tapped on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on international education and found that agents in China prefer their students to apply to institutions in the UK over other popular study destinations in the world.
It is worth noting that China is among the few countries that handled the COVID-19 situation well, even deploying its own vaccine to avoid recession from 2020 to 2021. Agents from China saw first-hand how the Chinese government managed the coronavirus pandemic. According to the report, agents asked to choose between the UK and the US, the UK came out as the preferred choice. Many of them still regard the US as having an unsafe or unstable position regarding overseas studies.
Over the past two months, there has been more interest in the UK as a study destination compared to Canada, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and the US. One reason is that the UK is very welcoming to overseas students, according to 75% of agents surveyed. Australia closed its borders during the COVID-19 pandemic which has a score of only 38% on the report and the US at 39%.
New Zealand and Australia remain at the bottom because there is no clear sight as to when the borders will open. This makes agents in China suggest the UK, Canada, Singapore and the US as good study destinations because of the higher probability of travel to these countries in the second half of 2021.
