Robert Gordon University (RGU) Aberdeen has established a series of health and social care short courses with fully financed spots, aimed at filling the skills shortages in the region.

The university’s four new online short courses will cover public health ideas and concepts, health inequities, affecting individual health and well-being, and health and social care digital literacy.

Key Takeaways:

  • RGU has launched four health and social care short courses through the North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund (NEERSF).

  • The short courses will cover public health ideas and concepts, health inequities, affecting individual health and well-being, and health and social care digital literacy.

  • Applications can be submitted for one of the four courses or all four.

RGU has a long and successful history of assisting the North East’s health and social care sector.

The Scottish Government, through the Scottish Funding Council, is funding the short courses as part of the North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund (NEERSF).

RGU’s courses will be useful for those who are currently employed in the health and social care industry and want to upskill, as well as those who are exploring a career shift in the field.

People from other industries who are interested in the topics will benefit from the courses and will be able to bring back relevant skills and information to their organizations.

Apart from these, the university’s short courses will address the effects of the pandemic on the health and social care sector that resulted in areas of significant skills gaps.

The short courses give a great opportunity for people already working in the industry to improve their abilities, as well as a solid foundation in some of the important ideas for those looking to change careers.

Applications can be submitted for one of the four courses or all four. The courses are accredited by the university and successful completion of all four results in a Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert).

Throughout the year, the university will offer more courses in a variety of areas, some of which will have sponsored spots devoted to the area and others that will be open to participants from all around Scotland.
