Canada—New Brunswick universities plan to provide COVID-19 requirement assistance to fully vaccinated international students whose shots are not Health Canada-approved.
International students who got their second dose of vaccine but failed to meet federal vaccine measures on foreign travellers will get housing support necessary for their 14-day self-isolation. A concerned institution will provide a designated residence for affected students.
This contingency plan follows the federal restrictions imposed on fully vaccinated individuals who do not have Health Canada-approved vaccines.
The only four vaccines that passed the Health Canada assessment are Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson.
“Travellers must follow federal and provincial directives, this includes self-isolation requirements at their point-of-entry in Canada and upon arriving in New Brunswick,” said University of Brunswick (UNB) Spokesperson Heather Campbell. The spokesperson added that self-isolation requirements would depend on whether the vaccines used are recognized and approved for use in the country.
While the University of New Brunswick does not require vaccinations to attend in-person learning, they strongly recommend students to get jabs against the coronavirus.
