Pushing its roadmap to the safe reopening of its campuses, La Trobe University (CRICOS Provider Code 00115M) acknowledged the successful 80 percent full vaccination target of the Victorian government.

In its recent media statement, La Trobe has announced further details on the safe reopening of its campuses by working on a formal system and procedure to enable it to collect and validate vaccination details for all students and staff.

Key Takeaways:

  • La Trobe University announced further details on the safe reopening of its campuses by working on a formal system and procedure.
  • The Victorian government has already reached its 80 percent full vaccination target.
  • La Trobe follows a three-stage approach as a part of its roadmap to the reopening of its campuses.

The plan aligns with the university’s roadmap to reopening, which includes a phased return to face-to-face classes in January 2022 and an anticipated move to ‘COVID normal’ from Feb. 21, 2022.

The requirement for all higher education workers and students to be fully vaccinated in order to be onsite from Nov. 1 is a Victorian government directive.

Until the formal system and procedure are in place, La Trobe campuses will be requiring students, staff, contractors, and visitors to be fully vaccinated. They will be asked to provide proof of their vaccination status on request.

La Trobe now follows a three-stage approach: Stage 1 from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31; Stage 2 from Jan. 4 to Feb. 21 (Orientation); and Stage 3 from Feb. 21 and beyond.

For Stage 1, fully vaccinated students will have access to study and library spaces on La Trobe campuses from Nov. 1. If someone wants to attend campus, they should show proof of vaccination to COVID marshals on request.

During this period, the majority of the university’s subjects and examinations will continue to be delivered remotely. Only essential, face-to-face activities will be done on-site.

Meanwhile, for Stage 2, La Trobe will increase the number of support services that are provided in person, as well as on-site teaching and learning activities, to fully transition to the new hybrid delivery model before the start of Semester 1.

Finally, during Stage 3, the university will resume face-to-face teaching across all campuses for Semester 1 as health restrictions permit.
