As a new academic year approaches at Wrexham Glyndwr University, the institution has announced up-to-date campus directives and Welsh Government COVID-19 guidance to streamline and mobilize their students, faculty, and staff.

While it is true that health and safety restrictions are progressively eased, the university will continue to implement them for the protection of their staff and students as they move into the new term.

Key Takeaways:

  • Wrexham Glyndwr University released campus guidelines that are aligned with the Welsh Government COVID-19 guidance.
  • The university announced the availability of various facilities, buildings, and support services for the students and the community.
  • Students of Wrexham Glyndwr University can expect one on-campus teaching session every week.

Wrexham Glyndwr University opened the library, Northop Campus, Sports Center, computer labs, social learning spaces, catering, accommodation, and Little Scholars Nursery. Meanwhile, student support services, advice and guidance, careers and employability, IT support, and the university’s student union remain available for the community.

In line with the most recent Welsh Government advice, Wrexham Glyndwr University will be implementing an updated set of COVID-19 guidelines across all its campuses.

All students can expect one on-campus teaching session per week, and it is noted that in-person instruction will differ across programs.

The university requires students and staff to wear face masks and coverings in all indoor public spaces and teaching spaces where social distancing may be hard to achieve.

Hand sanitizers are available at access points and within buildings as one-way systems will no longer operate. Despite that, Wrexham Glyndwr University still encourages the members of the community to practice social distancing.

In terms of testing and vaccination, the university is strengthening its call for the students and staff on campus for accommodation and study to get tested regularly. The Local Community Testing facility is located in the town center in the Memorial Hall.

Aside from encouraging students to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before September, the university has made the Catrin Finch vaccination center on the Plas Coch campus available to students as a drop-in service.
