United States – The University of Dayton provides more information for international students studying or starting their academic programs for the Fall 2021 intake. Foreign students who have started after March 2020 need to take at least one credit of blended or in-person learning to maintain their status. Completing studies purely online is not possible.
In response to the ongoing pandemic, the University of Dayton strongly encourages international students to be fully vaccinated with an FDA-WHO approved COVID-19 vaccine. Those who are not yet vaccinated must undergo a seven-day quarantine and get tested within three to five days after arrival. They also need to adhere to periodic surveillance testing. Fully vaccinated international students are no longer required to undergo quarantine but will still be tested.
On May 21, The Department of State updated the list of countries to allow flexibility for international students with F-1 and J-1 visas to travel to the US. These countries include China, India, Iran, Brazil, South Africa, Schengen Area, United Kingdom, and Ireland. Students subject to the restrictions may qualify for National Interest Exception (NIE) only if their studies begin on August 1, 2021, or later.
According to the announcement, continuing students from the countries mentioned, “may enter the United States no earlier than 30 days before starting their academic program.” However, new students can only enter the country on July 24, the earliest. Students who need to be in the US before July 24 need to contact the US embassy for further information.
Prior to travel, all international students flying to the US need to present a negative COVID-19 test result before boarding the flight. The test must not be more than three days before travel.
The University of Dayton is situated in Dayton, Ohio, home to international students, called Dayton Flyers from 65 countries worldwide. The university is safe and close-knit, which offers quality academic programs for everyone.
