Following the University of Dayton (UD)’s detailed announcement for international students commencing their academic programs for the Fall 2021 intake, the institution will be welcoming the 2021-2022 academic year with historic records in overall student enrollment and diversity.
Despite the impacts of the pandemic, UD was able to secure a high enrollment for the new academic year and a highly diverse student body. To help students return and start their study at the campus, the university strongly encouraged international students to get vaccinated with FDA and WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines.
Key Takeaways:
- The University of Dayton reached a record high overall enrollment and a highly diverse student population in history.
- International students make up nearly 9 percent of UD’s student body.
- UD is expecting to see an increase in graduate and professional enrollment.
Almost 8,700 undergraduate students, including about 2,150 new students, will be commencing their study at UD this Aug. 23. International students make up nearly 9 percent of the student body.
With this significant figure, the university has noted that nearly 10 percent of the incoming students are the first from their families to attend university, and nearly 19 percent are from historically underrepresented racial or ethnic communities.
Meanwhile, almost 20 percent were eligible for the federal Pell Grant, a financial aid awarded only to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor’s, graduate, or professional degree.
The university is also expecting a notable increase in graduate and professional enrollment, with the total enrollment anticipated to exceed 11,500. If this expectation is met, the institution will surpass its record established in the previous year.
According to Jason Reinoehl, the university’s vice president for strategic enrollment management, UD’s efforts to enroll and extend its support to students regardless of their backgrounds have made the campus more diverse and contributed to establishing a more inclusive community.
Moreover, because of its partnership with Abcodo, an international student recruitment platform that caters to both agents and institutions, the university has maximized the benefits of amplifying its initiatives to bring international students to UD.
In line with this, Abcodo will be launching a free webinar about international student recruitment in the United States for interested recruitment agents on Aug. 20, 3 p.m. IST. Interested parties may register for free here: https://bit.ly/AbcodoWebinarRegistration.
Nearing the commencement of classes on Aug. 23, the university will celebrate new students and faculty at a convocation on Aug. 21.
