Even ranked as a top 10 online university in Canada for 2021, University West Canada (UCW) is currently in the works to provide students with a full return to campus for the Fall (October) 2021 Term from Oct. 12–Dec. 19.
The university’s competitive and flexible learning options with all its undergraduate and postgraduate programs have provided learning opportunities for domestic and international learners even amid the pandemic. Now, the university is preparing to bring students closer to in-person campus experience.
Key Takeaways:
- Full return to campus is set to reopen this Fall 2021 term for the University of Canada West students, faculty and staff.
- Despite UCW being ranked in the top 10 online universities in Canada for 2021, the university plans to reopen the campus safely and responsibly.
- The university continues to implement health and safety measures in the campus.
According to UCW President and Vice-Chancellor Brock Dykeman, the university is planning to reopen the campuses in a safe and responsible manner to ensure the safety of the members of the community. To do that, the university adheres to the advice provided by BC’s Public Health Officer and the BC Ministry of Advanced Education.
Apart from the several safety measures for the fall term, the university has also reimposed the Student Health Ambassadors. It will also continue to implement the mask and face covering guidelines both in classrooms and common areas.
Meanwhile, students are required to isolate or stay home should they feel sick or experience symptoms.
UCW is strongly encouraging its students, faculty and staff to get vaccinated against COVID-19 so they can fully return to campus. Vaccines are available and free of charge for everyone residing in British Columbia, including international students.
It can also be recalled that since July 5, Canada has been permitting international students to enter the country without undergoing quarantine if they have been vaccinated. Despite the impacts of the pandemic, Canada remains one of the top overseas destinations for international students to complete their college and university studies.
All students with study permits are anticipated to go to Vancouver to experience on-campus activities. However, should students be unable to travel or have underlying health conditions, they can be exempted from returning and will be allowed to take hybrid online classes.
The university will continue to provide fully virtual courses, which can be done asynchronously.
