The Swinburne University of Technology is opening its 2022 Swinburne Early Entry Program, providing hundreds of exceptional high school students the certainty of Australian tertiary admission rank (ATAR)-free entry into university.
Since the program’s launch in the previous year, Swinburne took the initiative that saw hundreds of Class of 2020 Year 12 students admitted into the course of their choice, no ATAR required.
Key Takeaways:
- Launched in 2020, the Swinburne Early Entry Program opens new opportunities again in 2022.
- The program gives hundreds of high school students the assurance that they will enter the university, with no ATAR required.
- Swinburne offers a unique way for driven students to secure a place at the university and access work-integrated learning opportunities.
Once again, the university is making conditional offers into select courses based on an application and a recommendation from the schools where students come from. The program also includes Swinburne Professional degrees, which provide students with a full year of paid work experience before they graduate, bringing the list of eligible courses to 41 across arts, media, science, engineering, and technology, among others.
Swinburne’s program has also extended its support to students who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically the lockdowns.
In fact, the university’s most recent survey has revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted and changed what “lockdown learners” want to study and their priorities, concerns, attitude, and outlook toward the university.
Some of these students believed that lockdowns had put their gap year plans on hold already. That’s why as many as half of the Year 12 students are already enrolled in the university despite the ongoing health crisis.
According to Professor Chris Pilgrim, Swinburne’s senior deputy vice-chancellor and chief academic officer, the 2022 Swinburne Early Entry Program will help students get motivated and focused on their future.
In response, Swinburne offers the program to ensure students have a place at Swinburne and can access work-integrated learning opportunities.
