La Trobe now accepts applications for its Destination Australia Scholarships scheme.

La Trobe University (CRICOS Provider No. 00115M) has been awarded AU$1.8 million to provide 30 scholarships at its regional campuses, more than any other Australian university, according to Minister for Education and Youth Alan Tudge.

This comes after the university was awarded a total of 94 scholarships in the first round of the program for 2020 study.

Key Takeaways:

  • La Trobe will be giving 30 scholarships at its regional campuses.

  • La Trobe’s Destination Australia Scholarships scheme is now accepting applications.

  • The Destination Australia Program aims to encourage international and domestic students to study in regional Australia.

Moreover, the Destination Australia Program, which aims to recruit more individuals to study and work in regional areas, will benefit Bendigo, Mildura, Shepparton, and Albury-Wodonga campuses.

The Destination Australia Program aims to encourage international and domestic students to study in regional Australia, as well as promote and improve regional Australian higher education institutions and provide students with a high-quality learning experience.

According to La Trobe Vice-Chancellor Professor John Dewar AO, the scholarships have already had a considerable impact on the university’s local communities, with the actual advantages expected to last for many years.

Students from India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and Australia were among the first recipients of La Trobe’s first scholarship allocation.

Dewar added that regional towns are facing major workforce shortages in nursing, teaching, social work, dentistry, and allied health now more than ever.

Destination Australia scholarship recipients have enthusiasm for completing their education and securing employment in local hospitals, community health centers, schools, and private practice.

Scholarship applications are now being accepted. For up to four years, recipients will get up to AU$15,000 every year.
