Keyano College (KC) seals a partnership with Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Economic Development & Tourism (FMWBEDT) to attract and retain more international students to the region. Through their collaboration, the two institutions plan to serve several initiatives to increase the number of international students at KC by more than 70%through a multi-year funding agreement. An annual economic increase of over CAD 3 million for FMWBEDT is expected as the number of international students in the region increases.
Dale Mountain, Keyano College Interim President & CEO, acknowledges and thanks Kevin Weidlich and his team at Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Economic Development & Tourism for the support in strengthening their international student recruitment amidst challenging times. This partnership is a win for both the college and the entire region. Aside from the expanded enrollment, FMWBEDT will benefit from an increase in part-time work for businesses, as well as an increase in housing occupancy demand and cultural diversity. There will also be an increase in attracting talents who contribute to innovation and entrepreneurship in the Alberta region.
With this new collaboration, there will be short and long-term programs, such as agent familiarization tours and incentives programs for all international students.
