With combined disarrays triggered by the pandemic and radical changes students must undergo in learning, the international education industry is gaining a lot as institutions enter the edtech space.

MSM Unify and Abcodo Head of Strategy and Operations Avinav Sharma has recalled how the early days of international recruitment had to process things manually, with academic institutions compelled to send plenty of hard-copy brochures to the agents’ office.

Key Takeaways:

  • International education experts believe the global education industry is gaining a lot as institutions enter the edtech space.
  • Technology and edtech platforms fuel the exponential growth in international education.

Moving forward, many of these institutions have found the need to maximize the benefits of technology in their operations. Industry leaders have leveraged advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, data mining, data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to cater to all key stakeholders: institutions, agents, and students.

With these technologies, institutions have reached a wider audience and have attracted students from various markets. The edtech space has also paved the way for new and innovative programs to meet the industry’s needs.

“With the way things are looking, education will be driven by technology for sure,” Sharma said.

Edtech platforms on traditional agency model and industry

The availability of technology has paved the way for edtech platforms to fuel the exponential growth in international education—the same platforms that benefit heavily in amplifying the outreach of both institutions and agents.

Institutions could expand their source markets, cultivate their recruitment frameworks, and diversify their on-campus student population because of edtech platforms. Through these platforms, institutions are never required to spend valuable resources on hiring their own staff and sending them to new destinations.

Meanwhile, for agents on all levels, edtech platforms benefit them by increasing their product portfolio and also by bringing a high volume of institutions on their turf. When this happens, agents get the opportunity to offer a wide variety of programs in different institutions from different countries across the globe.

For Sharma, the end consumer in the entire process is the student, and that recruitment should always have students at the front and center.

“Students benefit from edtech platforms. More options in terms of programs, institutions, and countries give them access to a more one-stop-solution-based approach…International education becomes highly accessible for all,” he added.

The future of edtech

MSM Unify, a marketplace for students providing end-to-end solutions from choosing the right colleges to post-admission support services, is an artificial intelligence (AI)-based student recruitment platform. It is designed to make international student recruitment more effective and efficient.

This AI-powered platform focuses on providing solutions based on the institution’s needs and requirements rather than following a one-approach-fits-all kind of solution.

Abcodo, backed by M Square Media’s solid international education experience, is MSM Unify’s in-house recruitment partner. Through this new education agency on the cloud, agents can amplify their portfolio and improve their business outreach through a technological tool that can manage their student data and can become a one-stop platform for all of their recruitment needs.

Meanwhile, with students being at the forefront of recruitment, MSM Unify is building an ecosystem where students can practically find almost anything related to their international education journey, from their pre-departure to post-departure from their home country.

Sharma added that the Abcodo partners could use the platform to access their applications through a dedicated login where they can monitor and track their institutional and  third-party value-added services applications.
