The Guardian, a British daily newspaper that publishes the latest education news, commentary, and analyses on higher education and teaching, named Wrexham Glyndwr University one of the United Kingdom’s best universities for 2022.
The Guardian University Guide 2022, published on Sept. 11, ranked the higher education institutions subject-by-subject and according to student satisfaction, staff numbers, spending, and career prospects.

The Guardian rankings join the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2022 as the most influential worldwide university rankings. Unlike other national league tables, the Guardian University Guide focuses exclusively on teaching and student-facing metrics and does not measure research performance.
The publication used the methodology based on the universities’ ‘overall satisfaction,’ ‘the teaching on my course,’ and ‘assessment and feedback.’
Glyndwr achieved an overall score of 65.3, scoring highly for satisfaction with teaching and feedback. Because of this, Glyndwr has significantly placed higher by 41 places, from 107th place last year to 66th this year, making it ahead of several universities in the competitor base.
Different universities were measured across nine categories ranging from excellent instruction to job prospects for their students. This year’s university guide also added the 2020 and 2021 survey results, summing up the institutions’ performance and pandemic response in a normal year.
Glyndwr considers the National Student Survey (NSS) as a key driver behind this significant improvement in the rankings since it has outperformed sector averages on the three NSS metrics used by The Guardian.
