United States – Adelphi University has finally received a total amount of $7,365,905 allotted for emergency financial aid for students with exceptional needs. The funding is part of the $1.9 trillion budget of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (COVID-19 Stimulus Package) which was signed into law last March 11, 2021.
Higher education institutions, such as Adelphi University will receive a one-time grant fund to help all students in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from citizens, permanent residents, refugees, DACA recipients, asylum seekers and undocumented students, international students who are having a hard time making ends meet will also be considered for the financial assistance.
Officials will do careful assessment of the students who need the funds most. All eligible students will receive notification of the application process. Once the funds are ready, students can apply for tuition and fee charges, as well as COVID-19 related emergency costs which include food, shelter, healthcare/ mental health care, or child care. The university aims to distribute the funding by early June of this year.
