Adelphi University’s Momentum Strategic Plan placed a new “emphasis on world-class academics,” adopting its first Statement of Scholarship and constituting a vibrant Scholarship Committee of its Faculty Senate.

Adelphi scholars and artists have been dedicated to advancing knowledge and inspiring teaching and learning via academic research and creative practice during the last six years.

Key Takeaways:

  • Adelphi University put a new emphasis on world-class academics in its strategic plan.

  • Adelphi has created 52 new academic programs for undergraduates, graduate students, and working professionals.

  • Adelphi has also improved marketing and recruiting procedures and recruited an increasing number of students in the last six years.

The university has introduced Momentum 2, its forthcoming strategic strategy that will continue the work.

Since 2015, Adelphi has created 52 new academic programs for undergraduates, graduate students, and working professionals, all while enhancing its educational experience in ways that adapt to the needs of today’s students.

52 New Academic, Degree, and Certificate Programs

As the pandemic heightened significant interest in health care jobs, Adelphi developed a new BS in Health Sciences, which launched in Fall 2020, one of eight new majors the university has added in the last six years.

The program has five specializations geared at specific health care careers: biomedical, communication sciences and disorders, behavioral sciences, health care administration, and health promotion.

The courses are interdisciplinary and provide students with the skills and information they need to start a career in interprofessional practice or continue to graduate school.

Adelphi also launched another timely multidisciplinary program in 2020 that aligns with the students’ strong commitment to social justice: the new BA in Ethics and Public Policy.

The program combines philosophy, political science, and economics to help students develop the critical thinking and problem-solving abilities necessary to address global issues.
