Alvernia University has announced its decision to expand and restructure its academic programs by establishing a four-college model that will also enhance scholarship and interdepartmental dialogue.

Through the four-college model, the university will be naming leaders for the College of Business, Communication and Leadership (CBCL), College of Health Sciences (CHS), College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (CHESS), and College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (CSTEAM).

The restructuring of academic programs is for the benefit of the university’s students and dedicated faculty, according to Alvernia University President John R. Loyack.

Alvernia pushed this move to deepen the sense of community among the members of the academic departments, across the colleges, campuses, and the graduate and undergraduate programs.

The university’s academic program restructuring is to ensure that everyone in the campus community feels that they are part of the same structure. Alvernia previously followed two colleges and a school for graduate and adult education programs.

According to Senior Vice President and Provost Glynis Fitzgerald, students will be able to explore, find the pathway that meets their needs, and ultimately find happiness through the new colleges.
