Coleg Cambria has entered a new five-year partnership with Hawarden-based LCA Group, an award-winning manufacturer and supplier of pioneering electrical engineering solutions in the UK and overseas, to use the EPLAN software provider.

Cambria’s partnership will allow the institution to maximize the advantages of EPLAN as it provides solutions for electrical, automation, and mechatronic engineers around the world.

Key Takeaways:

  • Coleg Cambria and electrical engineering leader LCA group have entered a five-year partnership.
  • The partnership highlights the use of the EPLAN software provider in the college’s instruction.
  • This partnership will benefit the electrical engineering students of Coleg Cambria as well as its continuing apprenticeship scheme.

The EPLAN software provider is also committed to supporting the development of new workers in the sector, sharing the same vision with Coleg Cambria.

Apart from the software and support, EPLAN also provides lesson plan materials and lecturers’ comprehensive training.

LCA Group and Coleg Cambria will use the platform going forward, with costs covered by the Flintshire company. Both parties were crucial in the recruitment of apprentices from the college’s Deeside site over the years.

This new software will bring innovative developments to electrical engineers since they formerly had to use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) packages to create their designs. Now that EPLAN is present with its bespoke system feature, they can increase efficiency and facilitate a smoother path between production and design.

According to Dan Jones, a lecturer in electrical engineering at Coleg Cambria, access to EPLAN allows the learners to understand the design process of modern industrial electrical panels.

The college affirmed its continuing development of training to include advanced fault-finding skills and techniques in the pursuit of gearing up its future electrical engineers to be innovative and competent. This partnership with EPLAN will allow Coleg Cambria to stay true to its commitment by providing additional apprenticeship programs for its students.
