All international students of various Russian universities admitted to their first year or continuing their education will be admitted to the country this week, following the announcement of Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russian Federation Valery Falkov on Aug. 28.
The RACUS organization reminded international students of the learning platforms, invitation letters, flights, and requirements that they need to know about.
Key Takeaways:
- As of Aug. 28, Russia now admits international students studying at various Russian universities.
- The RACUS group released up-to-date data that international students can refer to when entering the country.
- Online classes remain available for international students who are still in their home countries.
As the 2021-2022 academic year commences this Sept. 1, students who are already in Russia will take their classes through the offline format, while those who are still in their home countries abroad can attend their courses online.
While international students attend their online classes, they will have to wait until their invitation letter gets formalized in the migration service. They may have to wait up to two months to receive their study visa in the Embassy of Russia.
After finally getting admitted to the country with direct or transit flights, international students will continue pursuing their education in different universities offline.
The RACUS group also noted that students who will need the invitation letters for studies are compelled to send a request to start issuing the invitation letter to the international departments of their universities, which include three attachments: a questionnaire provided by the university, a copy of the passport, and copy of the previously expired visa.
International students may tap the employers of the international departments of their respective universities should they need help along the process.
In terms of health guidelines, international students must have a negative PCR test taken not earlier than three days before their departure. A second PCR test taken during the first three days after entry to Russia will also be required.
International students can also get vaccinated against COVID-19 after entering Russia.
Considering the formalization of the invitation letter, visa, requirements, and other relevant activities, the expected arrival of international students in Russia is set for the second half of October to November 2021.
