Key Takeaways:

  • UCW emerges as a top 10 online university in 2021.
  • The university aims to provide the best education in Canada for international students.

Ranked as a top 10 online university in Canada for 2021, University West Canada (UCW) promised to continue delivering the best educational experience for its undergraduate and postgraduate international students despite the limitations posed by the pandemic.

In the recently concluded Study Overseas webinar hosted by MSM Unify, in partnership with Abcodo and UCW, UCW Regional Director Kalyan Mohan and UCW Business Development Executive Pranav Pande discussed the opportunities for international students who consider studying at the university.

The agent-exclusive event highlighted the university’s competitive and flexible learning options, its undergraduate and postgraduate programs in business, commerce, and communications, new personalized micro-courses, UCW’s student-friendly and migration-friendly campus life, and the many scholarship opportunities given for domestic and international learners.

Aware of the changing trends in education, Pande emphasized that UCW has been performing well despite the unprecedented shift to digital learning due to the physical restrictions placed to control the pandemic.

UCW Regional Director Kalyan Mohan said that the online experience of the international students is incomparable to experiencing it firsthand within their primed campuses in Vancouver, one of the most student-friendly cities in the world.

“The international student experience is something that cannot be replicated or substituted,” Mohan said, describing the university’s lively and diverse spirit. Currently, UCW has an estimated 4,000 students coming from 90+ nationalities.

Fast-tracking their education and completing their programs in less than the regular four years is offered for graduate students. They can take advantage of the institution’s offering of four intakes per year in January, April, July, and October.

This scheme affords the students the option to complete their chosen bachelor’s program for only about 2.5 years, using their saved time to either apply for an internship, find employment, or have a break. Not only is it time-saving for students, but it is also cost effective.

“Assuming there is no more travel ban in India, they can travel and go back to in-person classes,” Pande said.

UCW is eyeing to open classes this Fall and expects to welcome domestic and international students once the stringent implementation of pandemic guidelines has been lifted.

More reasons to choose UCW:

  • Competitive with fees in terms of location
  • A lot of scholarship opportunities
  • Four intakes
  • Provides practical approach in education
  • Small class sizes that enable individual attention to students
  • Unique classroom arrangement based on students’ competencies
  • Cost effective and time-saving
  • Secured employment in less than six months

Students who aspire to study any program in UCW should have at least a GPA of 2.33 (C+). Eligible international students will have a tuition discount valued at 30 credits in completing their chosen degree.

There are two UCW scholarship grants available for undergraduate and postgraduate students: the Pathway to Knowledge Bursary (PKB) and the MBA Foundation Study Grant MBA-FSG).

Undergraduate students from BA in Commerce and BA in Business Communication are automatically eligible candidates for PKB. Successful applicants will be starting their studies in the Winter or Spring of 2021. Qualified students will receive support amounting to CAD 17,400 in total.

The MBA-FSG is offered for postgraduate students taking Master of Business Administration. To be eligible for this grant, interested students should submit a completed Scholarship and Award Application form and a Personal Statement describing how their study under the MA Business Administration will contribute to their career and personal goals. Lastly, qualified students should complete the MBA Foundation program and the MBA degree within 36 months after taking their MBA Foundation courses. International students eligible for the said grant will receive an amount equivalent to CAD 5,000.
