The job center that is now rising adjacent to Victoria University’s (CRICOS Provider: Melbourne 00124K; Sydney 02475D) Footscray Park Campus will provide job opportunities for students and marginalized groups.

At the new Connectivity Centre, job searchers can look for positions in construction and trades, signage and graphics, and landscaping. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 138 Nicholson Street in the heart of Footscray.

Key Takeaways:

  • The new job center being built near Victoria University’s Footscray Park Campus will serve students and underrepresented communities.
  • Job seekers can explore employment in construction and trades, signage and graphics, and gardening at the new Connectivity Centre.
  • The Connectivity Centre’s ability to connect employers and workers will benefit both employers and the industry.

The Connectivity Centre is a joint operation between VU Polytechnic Skills and Jobs Centre, Plenary Health/Multiplex, and Apprenticeships Victoria.

According to Dianne Semmens, VU Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Vocational Education, VU Polytechnic’s Skills and Jobs Centre would help source and match appropriate students and local workers for the build.

Employers and industry will benefit from the Connectivity Centre’s ability to connect them with workers.

In addition to creating jobs for apprentices and opportunities for skills training and employment, the new hospital will provide a unique opportunity to create a leading health and education precinct in Footscray, with links to Victoria University Polytechnic.

The new 1.5 billion AUD Footscray Hospital is Victoria’s most expensive health infrastructure project. It is expected to open in 2025, replacing the old aging hospital on Gordon Street.

The new hospital will lower wait times and relieve pressure on nearby hospitals, allowing about 15,000 additional patients to be treated and nearly 20,000 additional emergency presentations per year.
