Extending its high-quality and tech-focused engineering and industrial design programs to students in China, the Swinburne College of Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST) has been recently launched.

Among only three Australian institutes, the Swinburne University of Technology (CRICOS Provider Code: 00111D) was granted a joint institute partnership by China’s Ministry of Education in 2020.

Key Takeaways:

  • Swinburne partnered with the Shandong University of Science and Technology.
  • The partnership has birthed the Swinburne College of Shandong University of Science and Technology.
  • Swinburne College of SDUST offers high-quality and tech-focused engineering and industrial design programs.

Swinburne is also one of two operating in the Shandong region of northern China, where almost 300 students have already enrolled.

SDUST, a non-profit public higher education institution in the Shandong province, offers multidisciplinary education in engineering, the sciences, and management.

Swinburne College of SDUST offers the following study programs: Bachelor of Design (Industrial Design) (Honours); Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) with a specialization in Robotics Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering; and Master of Engineering.

The college also enables students to graduate with two degrees – one from Swinburne and one from SDUST.

The programs will truly capitalize on Swinburne and SDUST’s strong partnerships with industry, government, and the community.

According to Prof. Pascale Quester, Swinburne’s vice-chancellor, the university will ensure that students can make the most of these partnerships, equipping them with the skills, experience, and connections they need to thrive in a tech-rich future.

This is not the first partnership between the two institutions – earlier this year, Swinburne and SDUST established an Overseas Learning Centre at SDUST’s Jinan campus.

This partnered initiative has allowed students who stayed in China to continue their studies with Swinburne.
