Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) recently welcomed approximately 4,500 first-year, transfer, and graduate students. With this record-high student population, different student clubs and organizations in the university have vowed to be as active and diverse as ever.

Thousands of RIT students who have joined more than 300 clubs and organizations in the university can now play a sport, sing, do community service, dance, or discuss with each other with fewer health and safety restrictions.

Key Takeaways:

  • Student clubs and orgs at RIT now operate with fewer restrictions compared to last year.
  • These groups promised to be as diverse and active as ever.
  • Thousands of RIT students have joined more than 300 clubs and organizations at RIT.

Aside from imposing fewer restrictions in students’ extracurricular activities, university administrators are also planning to incorporate more traditional instruction in most academic classes and other activities at RIT.

Despite the restrictions on organizational activities last year, most student organizations have continued to operate. In fact, 15 new clubs started last year at RIT, including the Pre-Law Society, RIT Voices, Her Campus at RIT, and Alpha Kappa Delta Phi International.

With fewer restrictions in place this semester, these clubs and student bodies are now able to gather in person, meet other members, and hold events both on- and off-campus.

At present, the main guideline that students are required to follow is wearing masks or face coverings for indoor activities, especially those that produce droplets, such as singing.

Following the annual Tiger Walk and New Student Convocation, students got the chance to sign up for the student clubs and organizations at RIT that they want to participate in.

Students will then proceed with the more traditional instruction in most of the academic classes and other activities on the campus, as most spaces in the university will operate at nearly full capacity for teaching, campus programs, research, and other services.
