This spring, the Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) will introduce a new sports and entertainment management minor that will focus on the business and management of sports and entertainment organizations.

Students will gain practical skills in corporate strategy, analytics, customer service, negotiations, and event and venue management through this new minor.

Key Takeaways:

  • For the spring semester, RIT established a new sports and entertainment management minor for all of its students.
  • Despite being designed and optimized for business majors, the new minor will be offered to RIT students next semester.
  • Students can pursue courses in customer experience management, professional selling, and marketing analytics.

The program aims to generate business professionals who will be able to deliver and manage highly effective experiences for both customers and workers across a wide spectrum of businesses.

With this, students will learn how to use new technology and data analytic tools to improve the customer experience.

According to Dean Jacqueline Mozrall, the sports and entertainment management minor will enhance Saunders College’s strengths in the areas of business and technology.

Students can pursue courses in customer experience management, professional selling, and marketing analytics, which build on their strong knowledge in customer service and hospitality, marketing analytics, and the core principles of business.

They can further tailor their degree by selecting electives in areas including negotiations, commercial law, and information systems. The minor culminates in a capstone event that incorporates a case-based investigation of current sports and entertainment concerns.

RIT has established partnerships with sports and entertainment organizations in Western New York in preparation for this new initiative.

The new sports and entertainment management minor will be available to RIT students next semester, even though it was created and tailored for business majors.
