For the second year in a row, India has received the largest number of Erasmus Mundus scholarships in the world, with a total of 153 Indian students given the opportunity to pursue their higher education in different countries in Europe this year.

Out of 756 Indian student applications for the Erasmus Mundus scholarships, 74 females and 79 males were selected for the 2021-23 batch, provided with educational opportunities to study overseas with new and innovative methods of instruction.

Key Takeaways:

  • A total of 153 Indian students received the Erasmus Mundus scholarships.
  • The study period will be spent in at least two of the program countries in Europe.
  • The Erasmus Mundus scholarships will cover students’ tuition, insurance, library or laboratory costs, and other expenses required in their programs.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) is a highly rated international study program for students, regardless of their country of origin, as long as they have already obtained a Bachelor’s degree.

Under the Erasmus+ program, students get fully-funded scholarships covering their tuition, insurance, library or laboratory costs, travel expenses, accommodation costs, and other expenses that are required for them to participate in their chosen Master’s degree.

While international students get to enjoy the benefits of the scholarship, they are compelled to pursue their higher education and conduct research in at least two European universities where they can get even multiple degrees in various fields.

Erasmus Mundus scholars from India have been welcomed by embassy representatives from different European countries, advising them to maximize the opportunity to gain in-depth and comprehensive knowledge not only from the first-class education in Europe but also from the cultural landscape that the countries offer.

Most Member States have already started processing the student visa applications. In the interest of students’ safety, universities will be offering online classes for those that still have travel restrictions in their countries.

Until the start of the next academic year, students have been required to stay in touch with their program coordinators.
