More than a year into conducting online instruction and school activities, IBT College has announced the “highly possible” return to campus in September, following the Fall 2021 Planning for the Postsecondary Education (PSE) Sector of the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.

It is anticipated that face-to-face instruction and on-campus activities at postsecondary education institutions would be allowed to resume without capacity limits or physical distancing requirements starting in Fall 2021. This move follows the continuing progress of vaccination in the province.

Key Takeaways:

  • IBT College announced the “highly possible” return to campus starting Fall 2021.
  • The decision aligns with the Fall 2021 Planning for the Postsecondary Education Sector of the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
  • Fully vaccinated international students who are authorized to enter Canada are no longer subject to the federally mandated 14-day quarantine requirements.

However, upon the campus return, masks will still be required for indoor settings. All PSE institutions will be required to continue following provincial and federal public health and workplace safety requirements.

The Ministry of Colleges and Universities also recognizes the importance of international education to the Ontario PSE sector. That’s why it continues to welcome international students to the province. The ministry also guaranteed its continuing efforts to work with international students toward their study experience in Ontario moving forward.

As of July 5, fully vaccinated international students who are authorized to enter Canada are no longer subject to the federally mandated 14-day quarantine requirements, provided they meet the specific conditions set out by the Canadian government.

According to Deputy Minister Shelley Tapp, all PSE institutions must remain vigilant and responsive to the trajectory of COVID-19.

“I am optimistic that the PSE sector will resume many of the cherished in-person experiences that have been on pause for so long,” Tapp said.
