EMGS Updates Validity Periods for Travel Authorization Approvals

Malaysia—The Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) released an update on the Travel Authorization approvals issued by the Director-General of the Malaysian Immigration Department. 

Before the July 9 update, EMGS had previously released a bulletin on the requirements that all international students should meet to get a travel authorization from officials before entering or going back to Malaysia.

Aside from securing an approved travel authorization, international students must also ensure its validity before making plans to travel to Malaysia. International students will be required to re-apply for a new one if the travel authorization approval has exceeded the validity period.

With the implementation of the new updates on travel authorization, EMGS notes that all approved travel authorization applications will have a validity period stated in the letter:

• For existing students (renewal applications), the travel authorization will be valid for three months from the date of issuance; and
• For new students (new applications), the travel authorization will be valid for six months from the date of issuance.

For new students, travel authorization approvals are issued together with the Electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL) and bears coinciding expiry dates.

All travel authorization approvals previously issued via EMGS will also have the same validity period criteria.
