The La Trobe University (CRICOS Provider Code Number 00115M) Aspire program, which rewards students’ involvement, leadership, and volunteering efforts with an early conditional offer and access to programs and networking opportunities, is still accepting applications.

While the 18-month impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has inflicted uncertainties among students and educational institutions, La Trobe shed light on hundreds of Year 12 students as they receive an early offer to study the course of their choice in 2022.

Key Takeaways:

  • La Trobe University accepts applications for the Aspire program until Sept. 17.
  • The Aspire program assures students about their future by giving an early conditional offer for 2022, even before they complete their exams.
  • La Trobe’s Aspire program provides several benefits for students, including scholarships and student exchange opportunities.

Among the more than 500 students who will be receiving an offer from the university, 117 come from regional Victoria.

The university’s Aspire program provides students with access to hundreds of free VCE and HSC study guides and revision lectures, and scholarships valued at AU$5,000 per year for up to four years of study (including Honours).

Other benefits include additional AU$1,500 funding for student exchange opportunities once travel restrictions get lifted.

Fundraising for charity, helping to run a school or community club, coaching a sports team, volunteering at a nursing home, and mentoring younger students are some types of volunteer work that could make a student eligible for the program.

According to Professor Richard Speed, deputy vice-chancellor (Global and Regional), La Trobe’s program serves as a welcome relief for many students, especially during this time.

While it cannot replace the hours of missed in-person classes and campus activities, it has provided students assurance with their future; successful Aspire applicants receive an early conditional offer for 2022, even before they complete their exams.

Applications for this year’s Aspire program are now open and will close on Sept. 17.
