To support international students in their preparations before heading over to their U.S. universities, Shorelight published detailed guidelines covering coronavirus vaccines and quarantine periods.

Shorelight partner universities welcome international students from different parts of the world who will commence their studies this fall. In the interest of health and safety, universities will be there to support students in getting vaccinated upon arrival.

Key Takeaways:

  • Shorelight released updated guidelines on vaccines and quarantine periods in its partner universities.
  • International students receive full support in testing, treatment, and vaccination via the Shorelight Student Health Insurance.
  • Students can get a vaccine from campus or vaccination sites upon entry into the United States.

The Shorelight Student Health Insurance is also in place to help international students with COVID-19 testing, treatment, and vaccination.

According to recent data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), only 44% of Americans aged 18 to 24 are fully vaccinated—likely higher on college campuses. As soon as students enter the United States, they will be eligible to have a vaccine, whether it is from campus COVID clinics or local pharmacies and vaccination sites.

If students have already been vaccinated from their home country but received a jab from a non-university-approved provider, they will need another approved COVID vaccine upon arrival.

Throughout the quarantine procedure and the semester recurrently, students will be expected to show negative COVID tests to ensure the health and safety of the whole campus community.

However, if a particular campus requires vaccines, the negative test results will not be enough to waive quarantine and/or vaccination requirements.

To date, Shorelight universities continue to forward the necessary steps to transition back to in-person instruction and campus life experience. International students are now eligible for vaccination, which may be directly available on their respective campuses.
