University Canada West (UCW), a business-oriented and technology-focused private university in British Columbia, Canada, discussed further its undergraduate, graduate, and preparatory programs in an Abcodo webinar held on Oct. 19.

Pranav Pande, Business Development Manager at Global University Systems, presented the key insights and figures of the webinar, while Praveen Madaraju served as the facilitator of the virtual event.

Key Takeaways:

  • UCW offers undergraduate, graduate, and preparatory programs.
  • UCW has four student intakes in January, April, July, and October.
  • The university also brings students opportunities to connect with industry professionals and organizations.

UCW highlighted “The Vancouver Factor” as students get the chance to have the work and study opportunities provided by the university’s location. Vancouver is also the number one university in North America for high-tech job growth, according to the 2020 CBRE North America Tech-30 Report.

The university expands into one of the highest-profile developments in Vancouver’s recent history by moving into the globally recognized project designed by architect Bjarke Ingels of BIG in 2020 – the Vancouver House.

The Abcodo webinar has underscored the diversity and richness of the university as its students come from more than 90 countries across the globe, including Canadian citizens, international students, and permanent residents.

The Vancouver House Campus and the West Pender Campus provide a conducive environment for students to pursue the university’s high-quality programs.

With four intakes in January, April, July, and October, UCW provides undergraduate, graduate, and preparatory programs.

Its undergraduate programs include Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts, BA in Business Communication, and the Associate of Arts with eight new streams or areas of focus: economics, marketing, accounting, psychology, media communication, management, hospitality and tourism, and social justice.

Meanwhile, UCW’s graduate programs are Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) and on-campus MBA, where students get to pick eight elective areas:

  • Leadership
  • Human Resources
  • Financial Management
  • Business Analytics
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Marketing and Digital Marketing
  • Consulting
  • Non-Profit

Finally, UCW’s preparatory programs are designed for prospective students who lack professional or academic qualifications to enter the MBA program directly.

The university also regularly invites industry professionals to share their life experiences and allows students to network with real industry professionals and organizations.

UCW also provides generous scholarships and grants such as Scholarships for Academic Excellence, Second Language Excellence Scholarship, and MBA Foundation Study Grant.

Employment is also a key highlight in studying at UCW since its career services team helps students discover their strengths and develop their career goals. The team also initiates CV and cover letter workshops, networking opportunities, interview coaching, and job search techniques.
